Srinivasa Reddt Kandi: Google Introduces Offline AI Dictation App ‘AI Edge Eloquent’ for iOS

Google Introduces Offline AI Dictation App ‘AI Edge Eloquent’ for iOS:

Google has quietly rolled out a new offline-first dictation app called AI Edge Eloquent for iOS, stepping into competition with tools like Wispr Flow, SuperWhisper, and Willow.

The app is free to download and begins working once users install its built-in Gemma-based speech recognition models. It offers real-time transcription and automatically refines spoken input—removing filler words such as “um” and “ah” to produce cleaner, more polished text when you pause dictation.

Users also have the option to switch between local processing and cloud-based modes. In offline mode, all processing happens directly on the device, while enabling cloud mode allows the app to leverage advanced Gemini models for enhanced text cleanup.

AI Edge Eloquent can personalize dictation by importing commonly used words, names, and jargon from Gmail (with permission), and also allows users to add custom vocabulary. It keeps a history of dictation sessions, supports search within transcripts, and provides useful insights like words-per-minute speed and total word count.

Designed to go beyond basic transcription, the app focuses on capturing the user’s intended meaning—editing out speech imperfections and delivering clear, ready-to-use written content.
