Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: Anthropic Reportedly Doubles Fundraising Target to $20B Amid Surging Investor Demand

Anthropic Reportedly Doubles Fundraising Target to $20B Amid Surging Investor Demand:

Anthropic has reportedly increased the size of its latest fundraising round, doubling its target from $10 billion to $20 billion, according to the Financial Times. The round is expected to close soon and would value the AI company at roughly $350 billion; sources told the publication.

The maker of the Claude AI assistant and Claude Code is said to have raised its ambitions after seeing strong interest from investors. Expected backers in the round include Sequoia Capital — which also invests in rival OpenAI — along with Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund and investment firm Coatue.

Anthropic’s rapid fundraising push follows reports from late last year that the company had hired legal advisors in preparation for a potential initial public offering, possibly as early as this year.

In September, Anthropic announced a $13 billion funding round that valued the company at $183 billion, cementing its position as one of the most valuable private AI firms. The latest raise, if completed, would mark another major leap in valuation as competition and capital flow intensify across the AI sector.
