Apple Reports Zero Spyware Breaches on Devices Using Lockdown Mode:

Nearly four years after introducing its Lockdown Mode security feature, Apple states that it has not identified any instances where devices using this protection were successfully compromised by spyware.

According to Apple spokesperson Sarah O’Rourke, the company has no evidence of any successful mercenary spyware attacks on devices with Lockdown Mode enabled. This reinforces Apple’s earlier claims about the effectiveness of the feature, first highlighted a year after its launch.

Introduced in 2022, Lockdown Mode is an optional security setting designed to protect users by disabling certain device functionalities that are commonly exploited by spyware. It was specifically developed to safeguard individuals at higher risk, such as journalists, activists, and public figures, from sophisticated surveillance tools created by firms like Intellexa, NSO Group, and Paragon Solutions.

Over time, Apple has acknowledged that some users can still be targeted by spyware and has improved its efforts to notify affected individuals. The company has sent alerts to users in more than 150 countries, warning them of potential spyware attacks. While Apple has not disclosed the exact number of notifications issued, it suggests that a significant number of users may have been targeted.
