Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: Apple Unveils iPhone 17e, MacBook Neo, and New M5 Macs in Packed Product Week

Apple Unveils iPhone 17e, MacBook Neo, and New M5 Macs in Packed Product Week:

Apple introduced a wave of new hardware this week, ranging from an updated budget iPhone to refreshed MacBooks and display upgrades.

The announcements began Monday with the debut of the iPhone 17e and the M4-powered iPad Air. On Tuesday, Apple expanded its Mac lineup, revealing the M5-powered MacBook Air, updated MacBook Pro models, and the new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The company also refreshed its external monitor lineup with the Studio Display and Studio Display XDR.

The week concluded with the introduction of the MacBook Neo, a more affordable MacBook powered by a chip architecture similar to that used in iPads and iPhones, aimed at students and everyday users.

Apple’s latest entry-level smartphone, the iPhone 17e, starts at $599 and will be available beginning March 11. It runs on the A19 chip — the same processor found in the base iPhone 17 — delivering improved performance for everyday tasks and gaming.

The base configuration now includes 256GB of storage, doubling the starting capacity offered in the previous-generation iPhone 16e. The device also gains MagSafe and Qi2 support, enabling wireless charging speeds of up to 15W.

Camera capabilities remain strong in the budget tier, with the iPhone 17e featuring a 48-megapixel main camera similar to its predecessor.

Another major upgrade is Apple’s new C1X cellular modem, which the company says is up to twice as fast as the C1 modem used in the iPhone 16e. Apple also claims the C1X is 30% more energy efficient than the modem found in the iPhone 16 Pro, contributing to improved battery performance.

With refreshed Macs, upgraded chips, and a stronger budget iPhone, Apple’s latest lineup reflects a broad update across its ecosystem.
