ChatGPT Nears 1 Billion Weekly Users as OpenAI Secures $110B in Funding:

OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT now serves 900 million weekly active users, bringing the platform close to the 1 billion mark. The company also revealed it has reached 50 million paying subscribers.

In a recent blog update, OpenAI said subscriber growth has accelerated significantly at the start of the year, with January and February projected to become the strongest months ever for new sign-ups. The company highlighted that people rely on ChatGPT for learning, writing, planning, and building projects. As adoption increases, OpenAI says the system continues to improve in speed, reliability, safety, and overall performance.

The latest milestone represents a 100 million user increase from the 800 million weekly active users reported in October 2025.

The user growth announcement coincided with news that OpenAI has raised $110 billion in private funding — one of the largest fundraising rounds in history. The round includes a reported $50 billion investment from Amazon, along with $30 billion each from Nvidia and SoftBank, valuing the company at a pre-money valuation of $730 billion. The funding round remains open, with additional investors expected to participate.
