Spotify Expands AI “Prompted Playlists” to the U.K. and More Global Markets:

Spotify is expanding its AI-powered “Prompted Playlists” feature to Premium users in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and Sweden. The tool was first tested in New Zealand before launching in the U.S. and Canada, and is now reaching additional international markets.

Prompted Playlists allows subscribers to build personalized playlists simply by describing what they want to hear. Instead of searching for specific songs or artists, users can type a prompt that captures a mood, activity, memory, genre, or even inspiration from a TV show or movie. The AI then generates a curated playlist based on that description.

To use the feature, users tap “Create,” choose “Prompted Playlist,” and enter their request in English. Prompts can be broad or highly detailed — from a particular musical era or instrument to a playlist suited for a workout, road trip, or special life event. Users can also specify whether they want mostly new recommendations or tracks from their existing library.

Once submitted, Spotify’s AI builds a custom playlist using the listener’s history along with current music and cultural trends. Each selected track includes a brief explanation outlining why it fits the theme.

Listeners can refine results by editing their prompts or starting fresh. For those who enjoy evolving recommendations, playlists can also be set to refresh automatically on a daily or weekly schedule.
