Spotify Introduces Weekly Audiobook Charts in the U.S. and U.K:

Spotify has announced the launch of Audiobook Charts in the United States and the United Kingdom, expanding its push into the growing audiobook market. Similar to its Music and Podcast Charts, the new rankings will update weekly and showcase the most popular audiobooks overall as well as by genre, based on user listening behavior and engagement.

The charts are available to both free and premium users within Spotify’s audiobooks hub. Users can access them by navigating to the search tab, selecting the “Audiobooks” section, and scrolling to the “Dive deeper” area where the rankings are displayed.

This launch builds on Spotify’s broader investment in audiobooks since formally supporting the format in 2022. The company has since rolled out new features such as “Page Match,” which allows listeners to scan a physical book page and jump directly to the corresponding spot in the audiobook, and “Audiobook Recaps,” short audio summaries designed to help users quickly catch up on previous sections.

Spotify says the Audiobook Charts aim to help listeners discover trending titles while giving authors and publishers additional visibility. Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s Director of Audiobook Partnerships and Licensing, noted that improving accessibility and discovery — a strategy that boosted music and podcast engagement — is expected to drive similar growth in audiobooks and connect books more closely with real-time cultural trends.

Beyond digital listening, Spotify has also expanded into physical book sales. Through a partnership with Bookshop.org, users in the U.S. and U.K. will soon be able to purchase print editions directly within the Spotify app, further broadening the company’s footprint in the book industry.
