Spotify Launches Weekly Audiobook Charts in the U.S. and U.K:
Spotify is expanding its push into spoken-word content with the launch of Audiobook Charts in the United States and the United Kingdom. Announced on Friday, the new charts will be updated weekly and rank the most popular audiobooks overall, as well as top titles by genre.
Similar to Spotify’s Music and Podcast Charts, the rankings are based on listener engagement and streaming activity across the platform. The charts are available to both free and premium users through the Audiobooks hub in the app. Users can access them by tapping the search icon, selecting the “Audiobooks” tile, and scrolling to the “Dive deeper” section.
The move builds on Spotify’s formal entry into the audiobook market in 2022. Since then, the company has steadily added features to strengthen its offering. Recent additions include “Page Match,” which allows listeners to scan a page from a physical book and jump directly to that point in the audiobook, and “Audiobook Recaps,” short summaries designed to refresh listeners on previously covered sections.
According to Spotify, the new charts are intended to make it easier for users to discover trending titles while giving authors and publishers greater visibility. Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s director of Audiobook Partnerships and Licensing, said the company aims to replicate the discovery-driven growth it has seen with music and podcasts by making audiobooks more accessible and culturally relevant in real time.
With Audiobook Charts now live, Spotify is reinforcing its broader strategy to deepen its presence in the audiobook market while enhancing discovery tools for listeners and creators alike.
