Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: TikTok down for some in US, thanks to second Oracle outage since sale

TikTok down for some in US, thanks to second Oracle outage since sale:

Some TikTok users in the U.S. are having trouble using the app, which the company attributes to an issue with an Oracle data center.
“Creators may temporarily experience lags in posting content while Oracle works to resolve the issue,” TikTok said on X.
According to user-generated reports on Down detector, the issue has been ongoing since before 9 am ET. Oracle’s own post on X indicates the outage started around then as well.

Oracle is part of an investor group that owns 80% of the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, which was created to comply with a national security law that required the Chinese company ByteDance to divest its American TikTok business or be banned in the United States. Oracle Corporation has been delivering cloud infrastructure and overseeing U.S. user data operations for TikTok even before the formation of the TikTok USDS Joint Venture. Since the ownership restructuring, technical problems linked to Oracle’s systems have now been associated with two significant service disruptions affecting the platform.

Shortly after the sale was completed in January, TikTok faced a comparable outage, which the company said was caused by a winter storm that disrupted operations at a major Oracle data center.

As of now, Oracle has not disclosed the root cause of Tuesday’s service interruption.
