Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: Why Anonymous Social Networking Is Resonating with Gen Z, According to Fizz’s CEO

Why Anonymous Social Networking Is Resonating with Gen Z, According to Fizz’s CEO:

Fizz is built on a simple belief: Gen Z is exhausted by the pressure to curate and perform their lives on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

What began as a frustration with group chats during the pandemic has since evolved into one of the most popular social apps on U.S. college campuses. Instead of focusing on polished highlights, Fizz centers on the everyday, unfiltered moments that rarely make it to traditional social feeds. Its hybrid anonymous model and hyperlocal campus-based communities have helped it capture the attention of students who otherwise live on mainstream social platforms. Fizz co-founder and CEO Teddy Solomon even describes it as “the biggest college social app since Facebook.”

In a conversation recorded at TechCrunch Disrupt, journalist Dominic Madori Davis spoke with Solomon about why he believes social media has drifted away from genuine connection — and how anonymity can bring authenticity back.
