Zipline Secures $600 Million to Accelerate Drone Delivery Expansion Across the U.S:

Autonomous drone delivery company Zipline announced Wednesday that it plans to launch operations in Houston and Phoenix early this year, marking the next phase of its U.S. expansion. The move is backed by $600 million in new funding, bringing the company’s valuation to $7.6 billion.

According to Zipline, the fresh capital will support its growth into at least four additional U.S. states by 2026. The funding round attracted a mix of existing and new investors, including Fidelity Management & Research Company, Baillie Gifford, Valor Equity Partners, and Tiger Global.

Founded in 2014, Zipline has built a fully integrated drone delivery ecosystem, developing its own aircraft, logistics software, and launch and landing infrastructure. The company began commercial operations in 2016, gaining global attention for using autonomous drones to deliver blood supplies in Rwanda.

Today, Zipline’s delivery network has expanded significantly. Its drones now transport food, retail goods, agricultural supplies, and medical products across five African countries, multiple cities in the United States, and Japan, positioning the company as a global leader in autonomous logistics.
